Daring Bakers March 2009 Challenge – Lasagne of Emilia-Romagna

March 26, 2009

The March 2009 challenge is hosted by Mary of Beans and Caviar, Melinda of Melbourne Larder and Enza of Io Da Grande. They have chosen Lasagne of Emilia-Romagna from The Splendid Table by Lynne Rossetto Kasper as the challenge. The recipe can be found at either one of the hostesses’ blogs.

This was my first Daring Bakers Challenge and when I first saw that the recipe was I was terrified!  I was expecting to make something sweet.  The whole challenge was very time consuming – it took me 5 hours to complete!  But it was challenging and fun which is the point I guess!

The first part of the challenge, making the pasta, was very physical!  Lots of kneading, and a huge amount of rolling!  I don’t think I got the pasta as thin as it should have been, but I just could not get it any thinner!  I had pasta hanging around everywhere!

I was very happy with the end result.  The taste was different to lasagne’s I usually eat, definitely more meaty.  I really enjoyed the challenge and look forward to next month’s challenge!

Melting Moments

March 22, 2009

Over the past few years that I have competed at the Australian Line Dance Championships, which is hosted at Calrossy Girls School in Tamworth, the ladies that work in the kitchen make and sell the most delicious Melting Moments.

As it was a rainy Sunday in Sydney and I was having a lazy day at home, I decided to have a go at a Donna Hay Recipe for Melting Moments. They were delicious!

For a first attempt, they turned out pretty good :)
